The growth of smart cities is prompting the rapid increase in the number of screens in our lives for applications in department stores, parking lots, checkouts, and elsewhere. To meet this increasing demand and the rollout of processing-intensive features like computer vision, NEXCOM brings two new models to the XPPC touchscreen computer range. These new higher-powered additions to the XPPC fanless touchscreen panel PC range boast 10.1” and 15.6” screen sizes, multiple mounting options, and a choice of 11th Gen Intel® Core™ i3 and i5 SoC, providing the performance needed for demanding modern applications like industrial control panels, monitoring centers, and aesthetics machines.
At the heart of these new models are more powerful processors with new generations of built-in graphics processing capabilities. Both models have a solder down PCBGA1449 that helps them operate up to 28W without a fan, a crucial point in keeping the system reliable while still providing almost 5x the performance of the Intel® Celeron® model. To support additional external monitors and provide extra GPU power, the XPPC-200-i3 uses Intel® UHD Graphics for 11th Gen Intel® processors, and the XPPC-200-i5 uses Intel® Iris® Xe Graphics, which provide flexibility for additional screens and extra performance that makes computer vision run smoothly.
Two screen sizes are available: a 10.1” LCD panel with 1280 x 800 (WXGA) screen resolution and 400nits brightness, and a 15.6” LCD panel with 1920 x 1080 (Full HD) resolution and 405nits brightness. Both models use an eDP connection for the screen, allowing smoother overall performance than older LVDS-connected screens. The front panel has a 10-point multitouch touchscreen and utilizes a flush design with IP65 protection ideal for panel mounting in industrial applications. Mounting options include panel, open frame, and VESA mounts. The range of screen sizes combined with mounting options makes both models suitable for various scenarios.
With the wide range of integration possibilities, the diverse spread of I/O helps to ensure the fewest possible add-ons for setup. Two GbE ports provide connectivity for IoT or remote management, while HDMI (10.1” and 15.6”) and eDP (15.6” only) allow a multi-display setup. Other external connectors include 4 x USB 3.0, 3.5 mm audio out, and RS-232/422/485 via D-SUB9. Finally, there is an M.2 2280 Key M connector for an SSD or NVMe, and an M.2 2230 Key E connector for a Wi-Fi module with two antenna holes for external antennas.
The beauty care and aesthetics market benefits significantly from new technologies, and advancements in computer vision technology are beginning to augment treatment processes by using computer vision to assess a customer’s condition and recommend products automatically. Aesthetics machines with internet-connected touchscreen computers use cloud-based member management and connect to local devices such as a barcode scanner to capture member ID or product information, or even connect to micro cameras to do inspections such as checking skin condition—all in a clean-cut all-in-one system.
The new higher-powered XPPC fanless touchscreen panel PCs offer more power for embedded applications. The 10.1” or 15.6” screen, and 11th Gen Intel® Core™ i3 or i5 SoC give the boost needed for applications that need more computing power than traditional low-powered panel PCs provide, and are well-suited for industrial control panels, monitoring centers, and aesthetic machines.
