NEXCOM Train Computer Guards Public Safety and Security with Video Surveillance

illustrator

The safety and security of public transportation services has become a major issue as the frequency, severity, and sophistication of security breaches and attacks are rising. For the public's interests and smooth operations of public transportation services, onboard surveillance systems present a cost-effective solution and call for the help of train computers.

With the aim to strengthen public safety and security, a train service operator in an Eastern Europe country has brought a video surveillance system aboard its trains. The system which integrates NEXCOM train computer nROK 5500 and an array of IP cameras enables the operator to conduct an extensive monitoring of onboard activities.

Outside the train cameras are installed to prevent train-pedestrian and train-vehicle collisions. By train doors, video images of passengers boarding and alighting from the train are generated to reduce platform injuries and operational mishaps. In passenger carriages detection of criminal suspects and suspicious objects also relies on video surveillance along with emergency intercoms for reporting a situation that requires immediate attention. In the first and last carriages where powertrain systems are kept, a combination of cameras, warning lights, and sirens is used to keep these restricted areas secure.
